There are a few places in the world where Land Rovers are intrinsically tied into the landscape, creating a sense of place in which the Best4x4xFar is a key element. This week, we’re taking a look at four of the most “Rover-y” places in the world.

This issue of Roverlog is a tribute to HM Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8th at the age of 96 after seventy years on the throne. The Queen was linked with Land Rovers throughout her reign -- a reign that encompassed almost the entirety of the company's history. This week, we pay tribute to The Queen and look at some of the Land Rovers that have been most closely tied to her for the past seven decades.

I was massively anxious sitting in line to cross the border for two hours in Nogales, Arizona. I’d heard what people said about going to Mexico, even though I’d also talked to a bunch of friends that had gone recently. I decided I was either going to die a few miles across the border, or I was going to have an epic experience. Fortunately, it was the latter.

Among North American Land Rover enthusiasts, the company’s 1980s and 1990s marketing campaigns are legendary. Land Rover was breaking onto the scene on the continent, and they created masterful campaigns full of safari vibes and Rule, Britannia! glory. But often overlooked is Land Rover’s 2000s ad campaigns – the product of a company with more money, more of a footing in the global market, but still embracing the globetrotting element of the 1990s ads.

The new 2023 Range Rover debuted alongside a pleasant surprise for die-hard Land Rover fans: a new shade of green, Belgravia Green, available in the regular color palette. After several years of Land Rovers not being available in classic green, it seems like the iconic hue is making a comeback.

The setting: a dark pub in a 200 year-old building in Warwickshire, UK. There, we run into the proprietor of the inn down the road where we’re staying the night. He knows that we’ll be visiting Land Rover’s Design & Engineering Centre in Gaydon the following morning. Over a glass of creamy, tepid ale he tells us, “There’s another American that comes here once in a while. Big fellow with blond hair and glasses. Always looking up factory records and such.”

That could really be anybody, but I knew immediately who it was. “Is his name Ben?”

LR Experience Driving Centres in the US are now offering visitors the opportunity to test their mettle by getting behind the wheel of an older US Model Defender and putting it through its paces off-road. Simply put, a US Defender 90 in good condition is not something the average person can afford. This month we bring you a story of true dedication and the bond between a young man and his faithful steed. In this version of that classic tale, the steed is a 1990 Range Rover Classic, and the young man is one Patrick Turbett, from Penfield, New York.

In March of 2015, Patrick and his wife Jacque embarked on a full-body makeover of Patrick’s Range Rover. The infamous frozen road salt margarita mix of New York winters had taken its toll, and most of the metal connecting the body to the frame had completely disintegrated.
