Land Rover announced the winners of the third annual Defender Service Awards, the yearly giveaway of Defenders to worthy non-profit causes who can use the vehicles to advance their good work across the United States and Canada. This year, six Defender 130s found new homes, and for the first time the contest winners were evenly split between American and Canadian winners.

Land Rover's iconic dealer-against-dealer skills competition, TReK, returned for its fourth modern edition this year, with a qualifying event held in October and the finals over last weekend's Destination Defender event. A total of 109 Land Rover dealers from across the United States and Canada competed in one-day waves, testing their off-road, problem-solving, and team skills. The Texas showdown was the return of a 27-year tradition, dating back to the first TReK in 1996.

After a public vote, six organizations in the USA and Canada will get a custom-equipped Defender 130 to further their cause. Voting is open from September 15 to October 4, with the finalists to be announced at a banquet at Destination Defender in Texas on November 11.
