Destination Defender is an enthusiast-driven celebration of Defenders and Land Rovers, both new and old. The first event, held last year in New York’s Hudson Valley, brought hundreds of Land Rover fans from across the Northeast – and indeed, the country – to one place. This year the event moves down to Texas, joining TReK and the Defender Trophy to make one big Lone Star State-sized Land Rover-filled autumn.
The event will be held at the Iron Horse Ranch in Somerville, a 2,400-acre haven full of woods, lakes, and meadows. As is Land Rover tradition, a custom-built off-road course will be set up across the land, designed to show off the Defender’s capabilities. For the overnight crowd, there’s camping, glamping, and hotel accommodation.
Like last year, Saturday will be the announcement dinner for the Defender Service Awards, where we’ll find out which six groups will be taking home a Defender 130 to help further their community service goals. (Voting has ended for the Awards, but take a look at the nominees again here.)
A partnership with Outside will bring programming from outdoor personalities, including workout classes with two-time fittest woman in the world Katrin Davisdottir, guided trail runs and paddleboarding with former NHL hockey player Brooks Laich, and gourmet outdoor cooking demonstrations with Kitchen Unnecessary’s Ashley Rodriguez.
Daily passes are available, as is a full weekend pass. Events start on Friday and run through Sunday. Camping, glamping, and hotels are sold separately. For all the information, head over to the Destination Defender website and get your tickets!
