Convoy for Heroes is scheduled for Easter Weekend in Warwickshire and if you own a Land Rover they’d love to have you.
The Convoy for Heroes is basically a typical Land Rover rally…but with a couple of interesting twists. Yes, there will be “fun for the whole family” (the cliché to which comedian Jerry Seinfeld says “there is no such thing") with an off-road course, a display of equipment and technique from the Armed Services, a used parts sale, an Easter egg scramble and plenty of food and drink.
Where this particular event takes a turn is first, in its recognition of the men and women injured while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, and second, in its attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest Land Rover procession. The previous record was set in April 2004 when 260 Land Rovers followed a perimeter road at Long Marston Airfield, which is exactly where the organizers will be attempting to shatter that record, aiming for at least 500 Land Rovers this time.
