Like most repairs on a Rover, getting the old part off is more than half the job. The videos on the Atlantic British site are great. Once again, it cut my time just by knowing what tools to have available and what to watch out for. I had been suffering the engine "roar" problem long before the dash warning light steered me to the alternator as the problem. I performed this work on the floor of my garage (no lift or jacks). It's a project that requires you to be pretty limber in twisting to get the best angle on some of the bolts and electrical connections. It took me four hours, but I'm slow. I was able to use a 1/2 ratchet with a 3/8" adapter to fit in the belt tensioner slot.
