Do you need to replace and align the XYZ Transmission Neutral Position Safety Switch on your Land Rover Discovery Series II or Range Rover P38?
In the past, Land Rover dealers had a special tool for this, but the tool has been unavailable now for quite some time.
Fear not! Our new, faithful reproduction of the long-discontinued dealership XYZ Transmission Neutral Position Safety Switch Adjustment Tool is exactly what you need to get the job done efficiently and correctly.

Tool Usage Instructions
Park Neutral Position Switch (PNPS) - Adjustment
Correct adjustment of the PNPS is critical to ensure that the actual transmission selector lever positions are electrically transmitted to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and other on-board computers using the XYZ Transmission Position Switch Adjustment Tool LRT-44-011 / XYZSWTOOL:
- Set handbrake, select neutral and raise vehicle
- Unscrew nut and pull sector lever and cable from shaft
- Install setting tool LRT-44-011 on shaft
- Install setting pin through slot in tool and into hole in the switch. If the pin will not enter the hole, loosen the switch mounting hardware.
- Rotate switch such that pin will enter hole
- Retighten switch
- Remove tool and reinstall selector cable and lever assembly
The same procedure is also used when replacing the PNPS. See photo diagram for tool positioning.
