The genuine symposer or resonator (Land Rover part number LR049365) enhances engine intake noise to add an enhanced "performance" sound while driving. It is used in a number of Land Rover vehicles, including the Discovery 4, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery 5, and Range Rover Velar.
The symposer works by channeling intake rumble from the engine compartment into the cabin. The symposer can be adjusted to increase or decrease the amount of intake sound that is channeled into the cabin.
The purpose of the symposer is to give the driver a more engaging and sporty driving experience. It can also be used to mask other noises, such as the sound of the turbocharger.
