INTRODUCTION

The Overfinch 6/7 Seat Conversion for Range Rover 4.4 vehicles consists of a split folding two person, rear facing seat which hooks over and is then secured by the Original Equipment (OE) rear seat backrest catches (above each rear wheel arch). It folds shut and is held shut with the Closing Straps (already fitted). You have the option of having both seat bases folded down or one folded up or both folded up. When both seats are folded down they are held together by a Safety Catch to prevent possible trapped fingers, etc. The Splitting Lever, which operates this Safety Catch, is built into the left-hand mounting bracket. To release this, you have to fold down the left-hand passenger seat to expose the Splitting Lever. When both seat bases are folded down, you must make sure that the safety rod is properly engaged and has locked the two seat bases together for safety.

The seat cannot be used in conjunction with a dog guard, or rigid loadspace protector for safety reasons.

INSTALLING THE SEATS

1. Assemble right hand seat mounting brackets into bracket fixed to top right hand back of the Overfinch seat.
2. Fit the Overfinch seat to the car by first tilting both rear seat backs forward and removing the rear parcel shelf. Lift the folded Overfinch seat through the boot and hook the left hand seat bracket onto the wheel arch OE seat catch 'hoops'.
3. Then align right hand bracket and slide into place.
4. Ensure both sides are correctly located and return the rear seat backs to their locked position. (You may find it easier to locate the Overfinch seat if you first unfold it to its open position).

TO STOW THE OVERFINCH SEATS

Fold down the OE back seats and then lift up Overfinch seat bases and clip the Closing Straps connected to the bases to the back of the seats. Then to put the OE seat back to the upright position making sure that the seats have locked into place. (For safety reasons the Closing Straps are long to prevent a child from releasing an unused half of the Overfinch seat whilst occupying the other).

Please note due to the nature of the fitment of OE plastic trim in each vehicle, the measurements given are only a guide and may vary slightly from vehicle to vehicle, so it is important that after you have marked out where you want to drill your holes you should line up the components to make sure they don't foul on anything.

INSTALLING THE SEAT BELTS

The new rear bench seat requires of 2 x 3 point seat belts. You will see from the photographs supplied that the main reel is mounted on the parcel tray side support panels. Starting with the left hand side mark 100mm in from window on the parcel tray support and 15mm forward from the outer edge of the access panel. At this stage, you should line up the seat belt reel in conjunction with the mark you have made on the panel to see if the reel will fit without fouling the seat or touching the window. If clearance is adequate, drill a hole at the point where you have marked to 11.5mm, this hole should go through both the plastic trim and the metal base. Then drill only the plastic trim panel to 19mm to take the plain spacer which the reel will sit on. You can now fit the reel to the panel putting the bolt provided through the reel/spacer and by removing the access panel on the side you will be able to fit a nut plate to the bolt and then tighten up. On the right hand panel you will need to remove the boot light unit to gain access.

Fold rear seats forward and remove C post upper and lower trim. Fit lower Overfinch belt mounting under the standard lower seat belt mounting point and face it towards the rear, then refit lower trim. (See image 1)

Remove standard upper seat belt mount and discard spacers from behind top and bottom bolts and replace them with new Bracket that the new seat belt will anchor to. At this stage, you should make a note of the measurement between the seat belt mounting point to which the new seat belt will attach and the side window face, the second measurement should be from the parcel support tray to the same point on the new seat belt mounting bracket as above. At the back of top C pillar trim you will see lots of reinforcing ribs, you will have to remove any that foul against the new seat belt bracket using care and a sharp knife. Refit the top C pillar trim and transfer the measurement you have taken from above and mark the C pillar trim. When you have checked these measurements are correct, you can remove the trim and drill a 19mm hole for the bolt to hold the seat belt into the mounting point. You should us the same method on the left and right C pillar trims. (See images 2 and 3)

MOUNTING OF THE SEAT BELT BUCKLES

Fold the OE rear seats forward. Remove inner bolts from both rear seat latch bars and replace these bolts with longer ones provided with seat belt buckles added to the bolts and retighten bolts. (See image 4)

FITMENT OF SEAT BELT RETAINERS

The measurement for these retaining clips are 320mm from the start of the front edge of wheel arch trim rearward to the center of the hole in the retaining clip and 75mm upwards from the boot floor carpet to the center of the hole.

Once you have marked the position of the retaining clip, just hold the clip in position and screw the self tapper into the carpet. (See image 5)
