What Car? Magazine readers have voted the Land Rover Defender as their favorite off-roader for 2009!

This is not some high falutin' group of car "experts" mind you, but awards given by the readers themselves; real motorists with real driving experience. The magazine draws from more than 20,000 reader reviews and covers every category – from superminis to supercars -  207 different models and 40 manufacturers in all. 

What Car? group editor Steve Fowler said "The Land Rover Defender has bags of ability and does exactly what it's designed to do perfectly. Together with its no-nonsense approach and strong durability, the Defender is putting a big smile on owners' faces."

Love that "bags of ability" thing. Evidently, so does everybody else.
