2012 is a Jubilee year for the Queen of England, celebrating the Queen’s 60th year of service to the British people. As such, several tributes have been made this year to commemorate the milestone, the latest of which comes from Land Rover, a long time supplier of vehicles to the Royal household.
Land Rover has unveiled a few classic models from the Royal Fleet, with the most impressive being a 1958 Series II 88-inch model named the “State II.” The vehicle was originally built as a ceremonial review car for the Royal Family, which is made apparent by the unique “Royal viewing platform” in the rear of the vehicle. This special Series II is finished in claret paint and features a dark blue leather interior.
The State II features a radiator grille not typically used on Series II models, and the plated front bumper and hub caps are also unique additions to this special model. The presence of blue lenses in the front side lamps indicates that the vehicle is part of the Royal fleet; the light is turned on when a member of the Royal family is on board.
The State II has been used sparingly over the years. Only 13,450 miles on the odometer!
