If you’ve ever wanted to travel in the UK behind the wheel of a Land Rover Defender without breaking the bank or possibly ending your marriage by purchasing one, you may finally have your chance. Yorkshire Land Rover Hire will now rent you a Defender to explore the Yorkshire countryside.
Anyone who has traveled to Yorkshire can tell you that the place is littered with Defenders and other Land Rover products. Dan Petch, an 18 year old student and budding entrepreneur, has a fondness for touring in his own Defender and wanted to extend that opportunity to tourists as well.
“We want our customers to have that authentic experience,” said Petch. “We’re about showing off Yorkshire from a different perspective.”
The company received a a Start Up Loan from the Business Enterprise Fund in order to create a website and promotional materials and to pay for the insurance required of vehicle hire firms.
The company is a member of Welcome to Yorkshire, and much of their business is from tourists. The vehicles are available with bike racks and on board cameras and Mr. Petch is also seeking to make other accessories including a "glamping" trailer, available in the near future through partnership with other local businesses.
