We have reported rumblings around a performance-focused Range Rover Sport that would see boosts in horsepower, a stiffer suspension, and some sleek styling. While many would view the existing Sport quite athletic in its own right (“sport” is included in its name, after all) we are not opposed to the idea, and these spy shots from Motor Authority suggest that Land Rover is serious about the model.
There isn’t much that we can glean from these pictures. Land Rover has done nothing to dispel rumors of a Range Rover Sport R, but there hasn’t been any formal announcement that would hint toward vehicle specifications or performance figures. What we can see is that this Range Rover Sport looks to be lowered with a stiffer suspension. Also visible are larger front air intakes and an exaggerated rear spoiler. We can only imagine what type of power the finished product will produce, but the bar has been set quite high with the standard Range Rover Sport. Add some more horsepower, larger brakes and a stiffer suspension and you have a formidable machine that could provide the Porsche Cayenne Turbo with some needed competition.
