Performance… style… strength… grace… it’s all on display at the Dubai World Cup next Saturday. And you should see the horses!
Land Rover is once again the official vehicle sponsor of the Dubai World Cup for the fifth year in a row. They will be providing a fleet of luxurious Range Rover Sport vehicles to transport VIP guests, jockeys, trainers and their families to the race track and around Dubai. After all, we can’t have them all getting stuck in the sand now can we?
This is the fourteenth running of the world’s richest horse race and it takes place at Nad Al Sheba on Saturday, 28 March 2009, should you be in the neigh… borhood (sorry).
Robin Colgan, Managing Director for Jaguar Land Rover, Middle East and North Africa said, “We are delighted to be associated with the Dubai World Cup, for the fifth consecutive year. The owners and trainers have always been impressed with Range Rover’s uncompromising luxury and performance, but this year they took particular notice of its fuel efficiency too, as recent innovations have led to an engine that produces far less carbon emissions. Land Rover takes its responsibility towards the environment seriously. The company recently announced the launch of its CO2 offset program in the Gulf and the Levant, an industry leading initiative which enables both the company and its customers to take steps to balance emissions of CO2 and address climate change.
In fact, Land Rover was the first automotive brand to lend its support to the environmental campaign ‘Clean Up UAE’ held in Dubai on Decedmber 18th, in partnership with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).
Clean Up UAE is a national environmental campaign organized by EEG, a voluntary non-government organization committed to environmental protection and sustainable development. The event provides a platform for voluntary participation by families, schools, companies and government agencies and this year witnessed over 23,000 volunteers at 44 different locations across seven emirates.
“We were very pleased to have Land Rover on board the Clean Up UAE and look forward to their future involvement in this campaign. It is great to see organizations from diverse backgrounds making the environment their responsibility and taking measures towards protecting it”, expressed Habiba Al Marashi, EEG chairperson.

Land Rover was also invited to sponsor the first inaugural Desert Palm Nations Polo Tournament. The event was designed to highlight and celebrate Dubai’s achievements in the sport of Polo and was the official launch pad of Desert Palm, Dubai, a Per AQUUM Resort & Spa and “the first dedicated boutique Polo spa resort in the world”. No argument there.
The UAE team, led by Adolfo Cambiaso, the number one polo player in the world, won the first inaugural Desert Palm Nations Polo Tournament, beating the Rest of the World team represented by Nick Roldan, the number one polo player in America, with a score of 7-5 to the UAE team.
Land Rover has been supporting polo and Adolfo Cambiaso for over five years, having previously worked with him in the UK.
Probably that performance, style, power and grace thing again.
