Land Rover Series vehicles have been around since 1948. And they have been so versatile and durable that they are reportedly the first vehicle 1/4 of the world's population ever saw! As the calendar flipped, the model revisions have become more frequent, but more subtle. When purchasing parts for your Land Rover, it's important to know exactly what model you own.

Land Rover Series I (1948-1958): Now considered a collector's items, the earliest Rovers are tough to differentiate as production engineers had decided from the beginning to identify only major production changes. Wheelbases on the Series I, for instance, changed three times through the years. That's just one example of why it is so important to know the model year before ordering parts or accessories.

Land Rover Series II (1958 thru 1960): The trademark changes of the Series II was more power and a new body style. These updates included sill panels to hide the chassis and the exhaust, which helped distinguish it from its rough-and-ready predecessor.

Land Rover Series IIA (1961 to early 1971): Series IIA's are often referred to as "early" or "late". The dividing line for this differentiation is typically the Fall of 1967. The big change involved the polarity of the electric system as well as a centrally-located wiper mounted on the dash.

Land Rover Series III (late 1971 to 1984): The "modern" Series III debuted in the Fall of 1971 and only lasted until 1974 here in the States. That is when Land Rover stopped importing and selling them here.

It was during the Series II production that Atlantic British got its start. 1970 to be exact. Our first Land Rover Part was our galvanized Series Chassis.
