A steering damper is a shock absorber for your steering. All live axle Range Rovers are fitted with a steering damper to control vibrations and feedback caused by large diameter tires. The larger the tires, the more work the steering damper has to do. Terrafirma steering dampers are considerably larger with almost twice the fluid capacity than the original Range Rover units and significantly reduce shimmy on rough surfaces as well as the likelihood of the steering wheel being jerked out your hands off road. Terrafirma steering dampers also smooth out the steering action from lock to lock without restricting steering return.
All Terrafirma steering dampers have multi-stage damping and use the latest cellular foam technology for superior performance. Painted in the traditional Terrafirma silver metallic finish with blue dust shield.
It is better than the OEM steering damper. Heavy duty looking. I’ll update after a while wince I just installed it. Thanks

I was 281 miles from returning home recently on the absolutely impossible roads of upstate PA 81 between Scranton and Binghamton NY and my steering damper completely failed. Rover was undriveable. It cost me $775 for flatbed towing to get it home. I replaced (5 minutes work) the failed unit with this much larger damper which fixed the wobble and it's AMAZING the difference. I now carry an extra damper in the rover (with tools) if this ever happens again out on the road.

The old one was dead weight, this will work and was a straight and easy swap.
