Replacing your window motor or regulator on your Discovery or Range Rover Classic?
Don't forget to get a handful of replacement door panel studs. Often, you may break or significantly damage the plastic door panel studs when removing your door panel for access. It's always recommended to have new studs on hand to use when re-assembling.
Plus, if you don't already have one, you'll want a Panel Popper tool for easy stud removal.

Can't open your Front Power Windows on your Discovery Series II?
The moving parts on a window regulator wear out, and if you hit the window switch to open and you hear the window motor running, but the window does not lower, most likely, the links on the regulator have come apart.
Watch Doug, our Land Rover Master Technician, show you how to remove the front door panel--using panel popper W107T, and then access and repair and replace the front left window regulator and window motor.
The repair is the same for the front right side.

The original Discovery 2 motor has a short (~6") extension from the harness connector, which this replacement omits. To connect this replacement part, you need to gain access to the harness connector and remove it entirely. There is a white plastic retainer clip that holds the connector in place hidden behind the door panel. Remove this clip by pushing it back into the door cavity. A small bubble in the clear plastic makes room for the head of this clip, or it can be located by following the harness extension back behind the door panel. Keep this clip to fit back onto the replacement motor pigtail. Also need to reuse the three torx head screws that attach the old motor to the regulator.

I ordered this window lift motor for my 2003 Discovery. The motor was physically the same size and shape and bolted in properly. The connector, however, was completely different that the connector on the original motor and not compatible with the car's harness. I ended up using a weatherpack connector and making it work as I needed to get the car back into service. Everything works properly now so there really isn't any harm or foul here...it just wasn't plug and play...
