Terrain Master JackPoint and Steering Guard

JackPoint is our own, unique Hi-lift jack accessory that fits all Range Rover Classic and Discovery bumper mountings and provides secure, heavy duty jacking, when used in conjunction with our JackAdapt and recovery points. JackPoint will fit with the standard bumpers but plastic skirts may have to be modified slightly. They are also compatible with our plain and winch bumpers when a Terrain Master steering guard is fitted to Range Rover Classic and Discovery Vehicles, although the jacking tube will be duplicated.
A special version, without the jacking tube, is available for Defender models as a mounting for our Steering Guard or just extra protection and provides a heavy recovery point as well.
JackPoint is made from 10mm steel plate and is shaped to protect the steering components when contacting banks, fallen trees, etc.
Fitting merely involves using the bolts supplied for Range Rover or Discovery or the original lashing eye bolts for Defender. Particular attention should be paid to the steering arm bolt, which is used at the rear of the JackPoint. If the Nyloc nut on this bolt does not completely engage it must be replaced with a longer version.
The aluminum Steering Guard is 6 mm thick, highly polished Aluminum. Its shape provides maximum strength whilst retaining an airflow path for cooling. All JackPoints have the mounting holes pre-drilled for the guard which comes with it’s own mounting angles and fixings. It is also available in 5mm steel without the holes.
Adding the Steering Guard consists of bolting the two angle iron pieces to the outside of the JackPoints using M8 x 30 bolts and offering up the guard. Four further M8 x 25 domed head bolts with heavy stainless washers then secure the guard to these angles. Centralize the steering guard in each direction before tightening the bolts and check for obstruction or trapped wires before completion.
Go Safely
It is essential to check the condition of all of these components after heavy off-road use. In particular, extreme contact with the Guard could cause it to foul vital steering components and affect the vehicles steering performance.
