The 2023 Range Rover SV will bring a further level of customization to the new flagship Land Rover, with enough choices to create a total of 1.6 MILLION possible different custom specifications. With options for special colors, ultra-luxury interior materials, and an attention to detail even above the normal models, the SV is the absolute crème de la crème of luxury SUVs.
The Special Vehicles department at JLR provides a variety of extras for Land Rover models, whether it’s the power of the SVR line or the absolute luxury of the SV trim. The differences on the exterior are subtle, the most significant being that while the standard model has a two-bar lower grille, the SV has a sleek five-bar setup – the easiest way to see if it’s an SV coming at you on the road.
There are two design themes available to use as a baseline in designing your custom SV – SV Serenity and SV Intrepid. These two themes each focus their color-keyed design on a different area of the vehicle – rear for Serenity, front for Intrepid.
The SV line also offers special metal-plated exterior trim in either Atlas Silver or Anthracite, and seven different wheel designs with various color inserts. The trucks can be painted in any of the normal Range Rover colors, or a further selection of 14 SV Bespoke Premium Palette colors, in gloss or satin finish. The roof can be two-toned in Narvik Black or Corinthian Bronze, depending on the exterior color. There’s even an SV Bespoke Match to Sample program if you want your paint color to be one-of-a-kind.
The SV’s interior offers a number of luxury textiles to choose from. The standard choice is a semi-aniline leather with specially-shaped seats and special embroidery. There’s also a choice of a near-aniline leather, which is similar to that in household furniture, but with the durability needed for hundreds of thousands of miles of wear. New production techniques allow for a ten-percent increase in hide utilization. If you’d prefer to have no animal product in your seats, you can choose Ultrafabrics – a polyurethane material that feels like leather but is 30% lighter and creates a quarter of the carbon dioxide output of leather.
Craftsmanship extends to the details, with hundreds of hand-laid, laser-cut marquetry wood pieces throughout every SV model. Made from wenge, a rare African hardwood, the smallest piece of marquetry is just 6mm x 8mm. Long Wheelbase models with the four-seat SV Signature Suite luxury cabin have a constant runner of marquetry wood from front to back.
The SV line also moves forward into ceramics, with every model carrying a ceramic SV badge. Ceramic is also featured inside, making the shifter, Terrain Response, and volume controllers. These are injection molded at 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit, then precision ground and polished or sandblasted to get the desired finish. If you don’t want metal or wood finishers, you can also opt for ceramic trim with special patterns molded into it.
