The core of the 2023 sponsorship will be the Land Rover Defenders of Tomorrow program, which will support the child mascots who walk the players onto the pitch at the start of every game. The announcement of the program came with the announcement of the first mascot – an 8-year-old boy named Arthur from Paris, where the final will be held. He joined Land Rover’s rugby ambassadors, Dimitri Yachvili and Bryan Habana, for the press launch.
Land Rover supports rugby on a global scale, across all levels, though the relative obscurity of the sport in the United States means that it’s not a prominent part of their public relations program here. In addition to the World Cup, they are a major sponsor of the English Premiership.
At the World Cup in France in 2023, expect Land Rover vehicles to take a prominent role. In the past they have even been used to carry the Webb Ellis Cup to the winners. Yet to be seen is which vehicle will feature in the 2023 event, though safe bets are on the new Range Rover or the modern icon new Defender.
