Jaguar Land Rover will provide transport for leaders when they arrive in Glasgow next month for the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference. Utilizing a number of vehicles from their portfolio of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles, they will transport leaders and delegates from their accommodations to the event venue.
JLR has made a major push towards EVs with their Reimagine plan, announced in February. With many countries requiring a greater share of vehicle sales to be electric in coming years, investment in this sphere will be more and more necessary to compete.
The flagship of the electric fleet will be the Jaguar I-PACE, the first major mass-market SUV-style EV launched after the Tesla Model X. This is the only fully-electric vehicle JLR currently produces, though there are a number of plug-in hybrids based on the Ingenium engine series, and there are plans for major electrification in new models launching from 2024. The intent is to have all JLR nameplates available in pure electric form by the end of the 2020s.
JLR previously provided a similar vehicle service to the G7 Conference in Cornwall in June. All of the vehicles for the Glasgow conference will be sourced from their British pool fleet, thus further reducing the carbon footprint of the event.
