Sure, everyone is talking about the bright future over at Land Rover. Tata Motors is flush, the designers are breaking out of the mold with vehicles like the Evoque, Victoria Beckham is on board as a Creative Design Executive. What more do you need?
How about a few more cylinders?
It seems that taking the Range Rover even further up the luxury SUV mountain will require, as Handyman Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor would say, "MORE POWER! Argh!" So what if installing a new V12 engine will up the cost to about as much as a new Bentley. You don't see many Bentleys tackling the Austrailian Outback or the Serengeti. And, given the current state of luxury on a Range Rover, the options for improving it are becoming harder and harder to find.
It's still early to confirm all of this, of course, but it looks like the Range Rover has run out of options. A V12 may be just the thing.
