The royal vehicles are at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in a display coordinated by Land Rover Classic, the company's restoration and heritage division. It's the first time that these vehicles have been exhibited in the United States.
The vehicles on display tell the full story of the reign of Elizabeth II, and the Land Rovers that fit into her life as it progressed. There's the Series I, ordered by her father, George VI, who served as monarch for the first few years of Land Rover's existence. A Series I Royal Review vehicle came on tour with her to Australia, and a 1974 and 1990 Range Rover Classic transported her to many events throughout her reign. Personal vehicles on display include a 1966 Series IIa station wagon, a 1983 Defender 110 V8, and a 2009 Range Rover, all of which have been part of iconic images of the royals over the years.
The collection has come to California from all over, including the Royal Household's collection, the Land Rover Classic collection, The British Motor Museum at Gaydon, and private collections. They will be on display on the show field at Pebble Beach, joining some of the world's greatest vehicles on the fairways of Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Range Rover owners visiting Pebble Beach this weekend can find their home again at Range Rover House, the travelling center for all things Range Rover lifestyle. The Range Rover House concept debuted at Pebble Beach in 2022, and has made its way worldwide to the finest lifestyle events. It's hit up ski season, the European summer circuit, and even served as the debut space for the new Indian-built Range Rover. Many of these Range Rover House instances have come with a special-edition ultra-limited vehicle sold only at that event.
The Range Rover Carmel Edition this year is the third Carmel Edition. This year, the model "draws inspiration from the picturesque landscape of lush woodlands and ocean cliffs along the breathtaking coastal roads surrounding Carmel." This brings in earthy dark greens and seafoam blue greens. The exterior is a Bespoke Green Satin, with a paint job that extends to the mirror caps and roof. The 23-inch wheels even include accents in Bespoke Green Satin. The interior is fitted in Sequoia Green and Perlino Aniline leather, with contrast stitching and cushions. The SV Signature Suite with executive rear seating seals the deal.
To celebrate these forests, $5,000 of each vehicle's $370,000 retail price will be donated to Del Monte Forest Conservancy, which works to preserve and manage over 700 acres of forest in the Pebble Beach area.
It's the biggest splash that Land Rover has ever made at Pebble Beach, the first official display there since a "Land Rover Town Car" was shown in the mid-1960s, and a continuation of Range Rover House's commitment to Carmel.
