Jaguar Land Rover is considering the production of a 300 horsepower performance-minded Evoque, reports Autocar.
The Evoque concept will feature a high-pressure version of the 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine featured in current Evoqoe models. The proposed engine upgrade would give the new Evoque a 63-hp advantage over the next most power Evoque model – a considerable upgrade for the Range Rover crossover.
A prototype of the performance Evoque is currently being tested, though production has not yet been confirmed. So far, the biggest problem facing the performance Evoque is how it will be branded. Land Rover has no performance-oriented sub brands like BMW’s M, Audi’s S, and Mercedes’ AMG. “We’ll have to look at badges or a sub-brand,” noted Evoque program director David Mitchell.
