Since its launch in 2020, the new Defender has become a mainstay of beach towns. From Nantucket to Montauk, Leland to Charleston, Malibu to Oahu, they’ve become a piece of the coastal landscape. The new Defender Beach Break edition celebrates this coastal connection, with twenty vehicles with a special decal set kitted out for the seaside – and even as Labor Day has come and gone, behind the wheel of one of these vehicles it’s an endless summer.
The Beach Break edition is inspired by surf culture and beach life. They’re all based off a Tasman Blue paint job, which of course conveys images of the sea and ocean. Each vehicle has a decal down the side with three stripes, in yellow, orange, and red, that symbolize seaside sunsets and summer vibes.
2024 Land Rover Defender 110 Beach Break Edition.
The vehicle is kitted out and accessorized to maximize its coastal capacity. The base vehicle is a Defender 110 S P300, with the four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. The interior is finished in a Light Cloud and Ebony Resist textile, which is easy to wipe off after a day in the surf. The cross-car beam is also Light Cloud, to keep it airy. The roof sports a set of crossbars, ready to accept one of the many sports equipment carriers Land Rover offers in the accessory catalog. There's a side-mounted gear box to shove a dripping wetsuit into, side steps to make it easier to get to those roof bars. Mud flaps keep the sea spray down, and 20-inch steel-looking wheels (they are, in fact, alloys) wrapped in all-terrain tires make it easy to hit any remote beachhead. Starting price is $71,700.
The Beach Break isn't the most exciting Defender special model, not on the scale of the fire-breathing Octa or the retro tribute Trophy Editions. But it's a fun way to put a close on summer, and a testament to the coasts of America, where Defenders have been making their name as the ultimate accessory for decades now.
