Atlantic British Ltd. Repair & Maintenance Academy How-To Video: Can't open your Front Power Windows on your Discovery Series II? The moving parts on a window regulator wear out, and if you hit the window switch to open and you hear the window motor running, but the window does not lower, most likely, the links on the regulator have come apart. Watch Doug, our Land Rover Master Technician, show you how to remove the front door panel--using panel popper W107T, and then access and repair and replace the front left window regulator and window motor. The repair is the same for the front right side. Questions about this video? Call our knowledgeable sale staff at 1-800-533-2210 or contact us via live chat.

OEM regulator had broken little rollers, the replacement had larger plastic sliders. Works like the original. Online video was a great help to install with no issues.

I was a bit intimidated by working the inner door on my Disco I, but the video was easy to follow and the fit was just right. But always be careful: the scissor-action can get your fingers on both the new and old part!

The window regulator I received from Atlantic British is an acceptable replacement part for my failed window regulator. I say acceptable because the reason my old regulator broke was a failure of a triplet of spot welds. The new regulator appears to have the same problem and may fail in a 6-8 year timespan as well. Simple things like Land Rover better calibrating their spot welders to yield a more thorough and consistent weld penetration would improve their overall products. This problem is not a fault of Atlantic British and I feel the need to emphasize the agreeable price and shipping speed of Atlantic British.

This part, which is not genuine Land Rover, is nonetheless a perfect replacement. My original regulator failed because the motor ground past the down position end of the regulator's rack. This is common. When replacing, clean all the old grease off the motor pinion gear - it contains metal chips which will quickly wear the new regulator. Put a HUGE amount of new grease on it, enough to fill the cup molded into the regulator. Also, grease ALL the tracks and bearings and wheels just like the old part you have removed. I used wheel bearing grease. Use painter's blue tape to secure the window in the full up position before installing the new part. Review several youtubes first - no instructions!

The window regulator is an exact match to OE and with just a bit of skill and patience is an easy fix. Review videos on YouTube for a good tutorial.
