iLAND Diagnostic Tool is the Perfect Stocking Stuffer

This week I'd like to tell you all about an exciting new product. Earlier this year, Atlantic British introduced a new, affordable diagnostic tool that provides light years in improvement over many of the compact consumer-level devices previously available. The iLAND diagnostic app puts many functions literally in the palm of your hand (though not while driving please) by allowing you to access your vehicle's on-board diagnostic codes and readouts via your iOS or Android Bluetooth enabled mobile device.

iLAND connects to your Rover wirelessly via the iLAND Bluetooth Adapter and requires no batteries. The adapter plugs into to your vehicle's OBDII diagnostic port and enables seamless communication between the iLAND app on your mobile device and your Land Rover vehicle. The Bluetooth Adapter is small enough to store in your glove box, offering anywhere, anytime functionality.

The iLand allows the mechanically-inclined amongst us to make their own repairs and calibrate many critical systems after the repair is complete. For those who take their vehicle to a shop for repair, it will provide some insight to you and your mechanic. Unlike some competing tools, iLAND is not tied to a specific VIN, so it's able to work on multiple vehicles of the same type or family.

 

iLAND provides comprehensive and in-depth diagnostic and system programming and management capabilities for all Land Rover models; reading and clearing fault codes from most critical vehicle systems, as well as providing live data readouts, testing specific functions, and system calibration for a variety of functions. It works on all North American Spec Land Rovers from 1987-on, and there are literally thousands of functions available for later model vehicles built after 2003.

I've promised over and over that I would provide a comprehensive review of iLAND. (This next sentence is probably going to bite me in the rear end) The trouble is, ever since I started carrying iLAND with me, my vehicle has just been pretty much working.

When I first received the kit, I took it out of the box and went over the included quick start guide. Basically, you download the apps. You plug the device into your Land Rover's diagnostic port, and then once it's paired with your mobile device, you can run through all the setup screens, including choosing the vehicle family for which you want to register it. After that, it will only work with your vehicle or other vehicles of the same model and year range.

 

Once I had the system up and running, I ran through all the basic functionalities, though with caution as I didn't want to unintentionally change any settings on my vehicle. I cleared the usual faults (yes there are many in storage, ok) and explored some of the menus to see what it can do. Eventually, I did have a few things to check out, including confirming low pressure in the AC system (condenser is leaking) and that my attempt to recharge it was, for the moment, effective. Not just by the cold air now coming out of the vents but by reading the system high side pressure, evaporator temperature, and other data points.

 

Key functions that most owners of modern Land Rovers will likely take advantage of at some point include air suspension calibration, brake bleeding, tire pressure monitor functions, and service interval resets. The function goes way beyond that, however, and a full list of available systems and functions, as well as the usual helpful videos, can all be found on the Atlantic British website.

One of my favorite things about the iLAND is that it's small enough to keep it in the car, so it's always available if something crops up while I'm out on the road. Which, like I said, it hasn't. Though I suppose now that I've said that, it surely will.

Bottom line here folks is that iLAND is affordable, effective, convenient, and can help you perform repairs on your own that could otherwise cost you thousands of dollars. And it fits in your glove box. Or, Christmas stocking, or anywhere else one might choose to hide the perfect gift for your Land Rover addicted friends and family members. Hint, hint. (Not for me; hopefully they'll let me keep mine since having it in the door pocket is apparently the only thing keeping my Rangie on the road.)

Maybe that should be the sales pitch. Just put this in the glove box and all your vehicle problems will disappear overnight!
