On April 2, 2015, the six-millionth Land Rover, rolled off the line at Land Rover's Solihull factory in the West Midlands. The vehicle is a one-off, specially-built Range Rover Long Wheelbase Vogue SE.
The special Range Rover is going to be debuted at the Shanghai Auto show, and has a special feature. The puddle lights mounted in the underside of the door mirrors will now project a small Land Rover logo onto the pavement below. The standard models project a silhouette of a Range Rover, but these use a special lens, engraved with a graphic the size of grain of rice that incorporates a Land Rover logo and read "6,000,000 - April 2015". The same design was projected onto the walls of the Solihull factory as the finished vehicle rolled off the assembly line.
The choice of a Range Rover is fitting, as this is also the 45th anniversary year for the Range Rover, a vehicle that has done so much to advance the reputation of Land Rover over the years, including the distinction of being the first car to be displayed in the Louvre.
The vehicle will be made available for public purchase on the Chinese market. The special lighting will ensure that it is forever recognized as a very unique and historic vehicle.
