Land Rover signs its first-ever affinity program with the one group that has arguably included its most loyal customers since the very beginning.
Land Rover is celebrating its 60th anniversary, in part, by signing its first-ever affinity deal with another UK group who is celebrating their 100th. If you want in on a great deal on a new Land Rover, all you have to do is join the UK’s National Farmers’ Union!
The UK farming community is arguably the longest running and most loyal of Land Rover's customers. Now Land Rover is recognizing them by instituting an exclusive affinity deal for its members that means big savings when buying one of the company’s 4x4 vehicles.
This is Land Rover’s first and only affinity deal and took months of negotiations to finalize but fully paid-up NFU members will now be able to claim savings off the Defender, Freelander and Discovery. (We wonder if this will swell their ranks considerably?)
NFU head of sales and membership Huw Hilditch-Roberts said: “I am delighted that we have managed to secure an exclusive affinity deal with Land Rover. Farmers have been using Land Rover vehicles for many years and this new program represents outstanding value for all of our members who can now make great savings when buying a new Land Rover at their local dealership.”
This exclusive deal will also allow members to offset the increase in Vehicle Excise Duty when the new laws come into force in March 2009 for all vehicles with CO2 emissions over 225g/km in the UK.
“All Land Rover products have excellent residual values and longevity with 85 per cent of all vehicles the company has produced still in operation across the globe. They also have class leading payloads and towing capacities, making them ideal for our members’ use.” Hilditch-Roberts continued.
Maybe this idea will prove so successful that Land Rover (now owned by India’s Tata Motors) may consider expanding its affinity program here in the U.S. to other loyal Land Rover groups.
