Side Mirror Glass Replacement On A Range Rover Sport, LR2, LR3 And Full-Size Range Rover
Watch Doug as he takes you step by step through the process of replacing the mirror glass in the side door mirror assembly on a Range Rover Sport, LR3 or Full-Size Range Rover.
Replacing the Side Door Mirror Glass on Range Rover Sport, LR3 and Full-Size Range Rover. Hi I'm Doug and I'm the tech support representative for Atlantic British and I'm here to show you about mirror replacement today. Now in a lot of cases with the Sports, the LR3s and the full size you can replace just the glass as opposed to having to replace the whole mirror assembly. Which is a good savings money-wise. These mirrors can be very expensive. So, being able to replace the glass is a relatively simple operation. You only really need 2 tools. I find a long pick tool with a 90 degree end on it is good for accessing the clips, and a flashlight so you can see what you're doing. Now in the case of the Sports and the LR3s, this mirror glass is held on by 3 clips positioned here, here and here on the back side of the glass. The easiest way to remove, and don't be afraid you can move this mirror around, you're not going to hurt this motor. Take your flashlight and if you get in you'll be able to see one of the retainer clips on this end. We'll first remove that one. Then the one on the bottom. Then normally once you have those 2 off the third clip will come right off. Now you can see the back of the mirror, now that you have a good vision of this, there's the side clip, bottom clip and the other side clip. You have connectors here for the mirror heaters. When you order your mirror you want to make sure you tell the salesman whether or not you have the heater or not. Some of these will come without that. Reassembly is relatively simple. You have a retainer here and here, with these little ears here and here set in on top. Again, don't be afraid to move the motor. It will move, it's not going to hurt it. You take the mirror, and starting from the top you want to drop them into those ears that I just showed you. Seat the bottom in and when you press in you'll hear a distinct click. Then you'll know that those tabs are on. And that's pretty much it. That's all you need to do. And again, it's a huge savings just replacing the glass as opposed to the mirror. Should you need this glass you can get them here at RoverParts.com or at 1-800-533-2210.
