Range Rover 2003-2005 Models (BMW engine):
Installation Notes:
- You will need a rare 36mm socket to loosen and remove your oil filter
housing (see part # W136).
- Raise vehicle to access the under side of the engine. Support vehicle
safely – vehicle ramps or lift recommended.
- Find the drain plug on the engine. It is located on the right side
of the sump, close to two oil cooler lines.
- Position a suitable oil drain container under the sump.
- Using a 17mm box wrench, remove the drain plug, allowing oil to drain.
Discard the copper seal washer (a new washer is included in our Oil
Filter Kit # LPW000010)
- Lower the vehicle. Locate the oil filter housing in the left front
of the engine compartment. It is near the left side of the radiator.
- Using a 36mm socket (our part # W136),
remove the oil filter cap. Discard the ‘O’ ring.
- Remove and discard filter element.
- Fit new filter element large hole to the bottom
- Install new ‘O’-ring on cap and lube with some clean oil.
Install cap and tighten to 18 foot-pounds torque.
- Raise vehicle and refit the drain plug with a new sealing ring. Tighten
to 17 foot-pounds torque.
- Lower vehicle and fill with 9 quarts of 5W-30 oil. Run engine until
oil lamp is turns off. Stop engine check oil level.
Range Rover 2006-On (Jaguar/Ford engine):
Installation Notes:
- You will need to remove the under engine shield and the radiator splash
shield to complete this change.
- Oil changes are best done with the engine just warm, not hot.
- A specialty oil filter wrench (our part
# W300) is recommended for installation.
- The Oil Drain Plug on this vehicle is integrated with a plug gasket.
The plug and gasket should be replaced with each oil change (our part
# 1005593G)
- Raise vehicle to access the under side of the engine. Support vehicle
safely – vehicle ramps or lift recommended.
- Remove the six bolts securing the engine under shield.
- Remove the tow ring cover by releasing the four clips revealing two
screws.
- Release the front spoiler to reveal the four hidden screws beneath
it.
- To do this, use an 8mm socket to remove the two screws just below
the license plate. Then remove the 6 screws using a 10mm socket.
Release the spoiler and remove the four “hidden” screws
behind it.
- Remove the remaining 9 screws to release the radiator splash shield.
- Position a suitable oil drain container to collect oil and remove
oil drain plug using a 13mm box wrench. Discard old drain plug.
- Position a suitable drain container beneath the oil filter. Remove
oil filter – filter wrench (part # W300)
recommended.
- Replace the oil filter. Install new drain plug and tighten.
- Lower vehicle and fill with 8.1 qts. of 5W-30 oil.
- Start engine and idle until oil pressure lamp goes out. Check oil
level with dipstick and top-off if necessary.
- Reinstall removed engine under shield and radiator splash shield.
