All tires represent a compromise in performance; Mud & Snow tires work great in snow, but won't provide the ride quality and handling of a Passenger tire, and All-Season tires handle most light weather conditions but don't provide the traction you need in snow, mud or rugged off-road trails. ABS and traction control do not provide more traction, they only limit braking. The only way to improve your traction is to install the right tires for winter driving. (After all, your summer tires won't wear out in your garage when you're enjoying the superior traction of your winter tires, and all of your tires will last longer, too.)
