OK, so it was the diesel version, but why split hairs… especially when you note that the Range Rover Vogue TDV8 picked up ‘Best Luxury Vehicle’ as well!
OK, so it was the diesel version, but why split hairs… especially when you note that the Range Rover Vogue TDV8 picked up ‘Best Luxury Vehicle’ as well!
“It is not as powerful as the Discovery 4 3.0L version, but it’s cheaper and the fact that you can equip it with 17 inch wheels makes it far more practical. Like the Discovery 3 before it, it is a deserved winner of the Best Overall Award and along the way it also picks up the Best Large Diesel Wagon Award.”
So says Trent Kikolic, editor of Australia’s Overlander magazine.
“The 2.7-litre turbo-diesel engine proving to be both fuel efficient and powerful enough to pull the 2-plus ton wagon out of any mess with relative ease. The turbo also provides plenty of mud-clawing torque,” the magazine went on to say.
The LR4 beat out such heady competition as the highly-regarded Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series. And the Range Rover Vogue TDV8 won as well, taking the ‘Best Luxury Vehicle’ crown.
Chris Lidis, operations director for Land Rover and Rane Rover Australia was understandably pleased by the awards: “The awards are testimony to the quality and capability of the 2010 model year… our customers have also embraced the model range which is vindicated by our sales results which are up by 33% on a year to date basis.”
The article finished with this: ‘Well done Land Rover, and thanks for providing us with capable and comfortable off-road vehicles for over 60 years.’
Well, you can’t beat that.
