Postcards From The Edge: A while back we reported on Land Rover's sponsorship of Mountain High's Arctic Challenge to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer. Now they're sponsoring their Women's Inca Challenge in the quest to raise awareness for osteoporosis and its associated risks.
Starting from Cusco, the majestic capital of the Inca Empire, 16 participants embarked on a trek through Peru, hiking the demanding Inca trail over three days to Machu Pichu, spending two days hiking in the jungle and a day of mountain biking, white water rafting and horseback riding.
And once again, your friends at Land Rover were right in the middle of it.
The challenge ran from October 16-31 and included four of the original "Bones In Motion" team members from the Jordan challenge back in 2004 (before this blog began), and two Emirati women.
"It was fanastic to have Land Rover's support yet again, this time to raise awareness for healthy bones and adopting a healthier lifestyle. The team was also thrilled to be a part of this adventurous challenge to make World Osteoporosis Day," said Julie Lewis, Founder and Managing Director of Mountain High, the Dubai based company that encourages people to take charge of their health by being more active in the great outdoors and taking time out with nature.
"At Land Rover, we are committed to bringing about positive change in the community that we operate in, and proud to support Mountain High's drive to educate and encourage women to focus more on their health and be aware of the risk factors," said Robin Colgan, JLR Managing Director, Middle East and North Africa.
The support for Mountain High's activities is part of Land Rover's ongoing committment to encourage people to explore the outdoors and to spread the message of health and adventure by stepping outside of their everyday limits for a good cause.
Treks through Jordan, the Arctic and now Peru certainly qualify, we'd think.
