Women wearing (arguably) silly hats at the Dubai World Cup will be judged to see whose is the best. Believe it or not, there’s a Range Rover awarded to “The Best Dressed Woman.”
Maybe it's not so silly after all. On Saturday, March 27, women from all over will be donning their Sunday best - with an emphasis on hats – vying to be named “The Best Dressed Woman”. And the winner will drive off in a new Range Rover.
“The biggest trends this year” says Phillip Wright, milliner to the stars, “are for wider brimmed hats and when it comes to style – vintage and the 50’s retro look is really popular this year. “
He advises competitors to “study your image in the mirror. If you have a wide-boned face then avoid hats that have a side to side line. Women should maintain a vertical line to enhance their figure, so make sure the brim is within the shoulders and on the slant to draw the vision to the face, eyes and neck.”
And if that doesn’t work, “tie your hair back and go easy on the earrings.”
He ought to know, too. His family has been designing hats for over 400 years.
