Forster says, “China will never be the center for Jaguar Land Rover, it will remain in the UK.” OK. Really?
Des Thurby (you gotta love those UK names!), HR director at JLR, said “China was on their radar because it is such an important market.”
“It would be a big decision for the company because we’ve not built vehicles outside the UK before. If we were to go down that road it would be something that would take us quite some time to do,” he added.
Like maybe a couple of years. And Thurby did confirm that 1,000 new jobs are planned at two plants in England over the next 12 months. Much of their sales growth of late has come from China, so they plan to bring the manufacturing to the marketplace, so to speak.
Growth. Go figure.
