The eight member team, including a breast cancer survivor and a teenager, went ice caving, dog sledding, and on a snow mobile safari. They represented many different nationalities and age groups, and they pushed themselves to the limit against frigid arctic temperatures and biting wind.
Why?
To raise awareness on how to control the spread of breast cancer through education and prevention.
The adventure took place in Svalbard, 600 miles from the North Pole, from April 25 to May 3. It was the third year in a row that Land Rover supported the challenge.
“It was fantastic to have Land Rover’s support again this year in raising breast cancer awareness following the success of our previous two years trips,” said Julie Lewis, Founder and Managing Director of Mountain High, a Dubai based company that encourages people to take charge of their health by being more active in the great outdoors and taking time out with nature. That’s where Land Rover comes in.
In fact, that's where they come in in Canada, as well.
Land Rover Canada has announced its third consecutive year of support for Quest for a Cure, an adventure race that raises money and awareness for cancer research.
Quest for a Cure was founded in 2002 by a team of Ottawa firefighters who saw a need to raise money and awareness for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The non-profit organization is run entirely by volunteers and has raised more than $200,000 since its inception.
That one is an eight-hour race that includes about 30 miles of mountain biking, hiking, orienteering and water challenges.
As to the Mountain High arctic challenge, the team had to be trained at Ski Dubai to adjust to the cold climate and to prepare themselves for the harsh weather conditions before they headed north.

For these women, it was undoubtedly the adventure of a lifetime. For women everywhere, it was potentially the adventure that could save their life. Well done, everyone. Well done.
