Land Rover is participating in their Government’s Green Travel Plan to encourage employees to cycle to work.
Des Thurlby, HR Director said, "We are delighted to be able to launch the Cycle to Work scheme at Jaguar Land Rover. As well as making a contribution to reducing our carbon footprint, cycling to work is a healthier option and we hope this scheme will inspire employees to think all the time about sustainability and the environment."
Keep in mind…the word “scheme” has a different connotation overseas. Here in the States, “scheme” is a bad thing, but over there, an organization called Cyclescheme works closely with a network of local retailers and provides support for company’s joining up with the Green Travel Plan in the form of tax and insurance cost reductions and off-price bicycles.
Road shows will take place across Jaguar Land Rover sites during the month of August to support employees with the application and ordering process. Sounds like a scheme, or, um, plan to me!
