What’s So Special About This Discovery?

It’s got Terrain Response™, a 6-speed automatic, air conditioning, and oh yes, it can stop a bullet from a high velocity assault rifle.

To look at it, you’d never suspect that this Discovery is any different from any other. No, to appreciate just how different this Discovery is, you’d have to shoot it. Or toss a hand grenade under it. Then you’d have one of those “aha” moments: this Discovery must be armored.

And armored it is, with European Standard EN 1522 level FB 6 ballistic protection, to be precise. It is capable of protecting its occupants from DM 51 grenades, should one be tossed indiscriminately beneath it, and a 15kg blast device from a distance of three meters off any side. The glass is glazed (the windows do not move), the tires run flat, there’s a fuel cut-off override system and the whole thing sits on a suspension system that – along with the brakes - has been thoughtfully modified to accommodate the extra mass you’d expect with armor plating all around.
