Jaguar Land Rover were recently presented with the 2015 Queen's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, for reducing the environmental impact of its products and operations.
Factors involved in selecting JLR for the honor include its cutting edge use of aluminum for body and chassis components, the highly efficient, low-emission ingenium family of aluminum engines, and and overall reduction in waste related to its manufacturing and operations.
The award cites JLR’s use of whole-life cycle design development that considers everything through the entire life of the vehicle from efficient production methods and use of materials, to its eventual disposal to ensure that as much of the vehicle as possible can be recycled.
This makes the fourteenth such award for Jaguar and Land Rover since 1967. The award was presented to JLR Chief Dr. Ralf Speth on June 23rd of 2015, in Whitehall, Coventry
