Land Rover has released a new video showing the Range Rover Sport SVR model undergoing stability testing at Rockingham Motor Speedway in the UK. The film demonstrates the supercharged SVR’s sports car-like performance while being driven flat-out around the track with all of the electronic traction and stability aids turned off.
Mike Cross, Jaguar Land Rover’s Chief Engineer for Vehicle Integrity, deftly whips the vehicle around the racetrack, while explaining how the suspension and chassis design provide for excellent balance and stability under the demanding conditions of high speed driving.
The SVR model, built by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division, is equipped with a supercharged 5-liter V8 petrol engine that delivers a tire-shredding 550hp and 502 foot-pounds of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 4.5 seconds, and can reach top speed of 162 miles per hour. For those contemplating ownership of this phenomenal beast, US dealers are taking orders for the SVR at a retail price of just $110,475. As it is often said, “if you have to ask…”
