It appears Land Rover is trying to build on the early success of the Range Rover Evoque by adding a larger version to the current vehicle lineup. The Grand Evoque would fit nicely within the current Land Rover lineup, filling a size and pricing void that exists between a high-end Evoque ($45,000) and the entry-level Range Rover Sport ($55,000+).
The Grand Evoque will likely include some unique design changes to differentiate it from its smaller sibling; however, the vehicle will use the current Evoque’s LR-MS architecture. Expect the Grand Evoque to be about 300mm longer, and to feature a larger trunk and possible third-row seating. Engine options for the Grand Evoque are still up in the air, but will likely come from a new range of four-cylinder turbo engines that are rumored to produce 170 hp.
Jaguar Land Rover figures the Grand Evoque venture to be quite lucrative, as the ability to develop several models from the same platform should reduce production costs, yielding profitable economies of scale.
