Land Rover is making headlines at this year’s Geneva Auto Show by announcing the first ever 9-Speed Automatic Transmission designed for a passenger car. The transmission is called the ZF 9HP and it represents the future or Land Rover transmissions.
Land Rover led the development of the new transmission with ZF, a world-renowned leader in automotive transmission technologies. By increasing the transmission gear ratios from six to nine, Land Rover has created a more efficient unit which will reduce fuel consumption and provide a quiet, comfortable ride at higher cruising speeds. The 9-speed transmission also features clever new technology designed to enhance the driving experience. A “skip-shift” feature allows for faster downshifting and deceleration and a responsive driving mechanism that provides quick shifting during acceleration and maintains the proper gear based on driving behavior.
The new transmission is the latest feat in Land Rover’s growing line of vehicle upgrades and technological advancements. It appears that the company is not only looking toward the future; they’re leading the way.
