There has been an arms race of sorts among automakers to provide consumers with the most cutting-edge infotainment experience available. With smart phones, tablets and other and “personal” technologies developing at a rapid pace, automakers need to stay ahead of the curve. That is why Jaguar Land Rover will be pairing up with Intel for future Land Rover infotainment systems.
JLR has recently set up a new research and development facility in Portland, Oregon allowing the company to work hand-in-hand with Intel to create what they are calling, “in-vehicle cockpit experiences that connect car, device, and cloud.” The ‘Open Software Technology Center” will complement the company’s efforts already underway at their UK facilities, while giving Jaguar Land Rover a useful position near tech-focused Silicon Valley.
