Jaguar Land Rover will be opening its doors to school children this October as part of the new government initiative, See Inside Manufacturing.
The See Inside Manufacturing initiative seeks to inspire new generations of talented workers by presenting exciting career options at several of the country's top automotive manufacturers. See Inside Manufacturing will encourage participating youth to take course work in science and mathematics, and outline potential career paths in the automotive industries. “Young people buy and use the latest gadgets and products but we also need them to think how exciting it could be to design, engineer, or make them too,” noted Vince Cable, Britain’s Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills.
Jaguar Land Rover’s participation in the See Inside Manufacturing initiative is consistent with its own efforts to spark an interest in the automotive industry with the youth of the UK. Each year Jaguar Land rover sponsors the GT in Schools Challenge which requires students to design and race a model car using methods closely associated with the automotive industry. Additionally, Jaguar Land Rover hosts one day each year for children to come to work with their parents and learn about potential careers in the motor industry.
“A clear focus on promoting engineering excellence and highlighting the exciting career opportunities in the automotive industry for both apprentices and graduates is vital if the UK is to maintain a leading role in advanced research and development,” notes Mike Wright, Executive Director at Jaguar Land Rover.
With the promise of new product launches on the horizon and global sales continuing to climb, a career with Jaguar Land Rover appears to be a very exciting line of work.
