Jaguar Land Rover today reported its best ever January retail sales of 46,016 vehicles, a 24% increase from the same time last year. All of JLR’s markets saw an increase over last January’s numbers, 65% in Europe, 36% in the UK, 9% in North America, 5% in China, and 15% in all other markets.
Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director, commented on the performance: "This is a great start to the new year, with very strong performance from both brands and across all of our key regions. Europe and the UK retailed almost 20,000 vehicles this month alone, driven by solid sales of the XE and the Discovery Sport.
In its best January sales ever, Land Rover sold 38,075 vehicles, a 20% increase from January 2015. Best-selling vehicles for the month were the Range Rover Evoque, at 9,729 vehicles and the Discovery Sport, at 9,486 vehicles. Demand for the doomed Defender was also very strong in its last month of production, with its best January sales performance in over a decade.
Jaguar delivered 7,941 vehicles, 44% more than the previous year.
