Why? Isn't this the best selling SUV in Europe? Isn't production supposed to be gearing up for its US launch in 2001?
Well, yes...and no.
Yes, demand is up in Europe, but BMW is already supplying over 1,000 more engines than originally contracted and simply doesn't have the supply for any more just now. And No, because these are diesel engines we are talking about, and US models are strictly gas V-6's.
