A family in England woke up on the morning of November 8th to discover that their beloved Land Rover Defender 90 “Bumble Bee” had been stolen from their property. With news circling about the end of Defender production, these vehicles have become even hotter items, making them a frequent target for theft in the UK.
Like so many Land Rover Defenders, Bumble Bee -an all-yellow D90 with bumble bee badging - had been a labor of love. The vehicle was fully restored by its owner who invested countless hours of labor and lots of money to create the Defender he had always dreamed of having.
Sabrina Merry, the owners wife had the following comment:
“My husband is absolutely devastated. This was a former farm pick-up vehicle, which he has spent so much time and effort on. He turned it into a fun family vehicle for all of us. We can’t believe it's gone. It’s so distinctive, and we would ask anyone who sees it to please get in touch with the police. My four-year-old son is really missing “Bumble Bee” as we call it, and we really want it back.”
We feel horrible for the Merry family, but feel that this story should serve as a cautionary reminder to Defender owners. These vehicles are fetching enormous price tags so make sure your vehicle is secure!
For our UK Readers: Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting incident reference 55-S-081113
