2012 was a monumental year for Land Rover. The success of the new Range Rover Evoque was exemplified with a plethora of major awards and consumer demand that exceeded initial production capabilities. It looks like the new 2013 Range Rover will be carrying the torch into the New Year.
What? Car Magazine has recently named the fourth-generation Range Rover as their Luxury Car of the Year. This first award is a good sign for Land Rover. Completing the first major redesign of their flagship vehicle in nearly a decade was a delicate process: improving certain elements to enhance the quality and performance of the vehicle, while maintaining the trademarked form and function which has long been the Range Rover’s calling card. Presenting the award to Land Rover at an awards dinner in London, What? Car Magazine Editor-in-Chief Chas Hatlett noted, “The Range Rover combines all the merits of a 4x4 with those of the finest luxury limos in the world.”
In his acceptance speech, John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director said, ““This award rewards everyone at Land Rover who has helped make the fourth generation Range Rover a landmark vehicle. At the same time as we have succeeded in delivering the highest standards of luxury, we have remained true to Land Rover’s core engineering heritage to ensure there is no compromise in Range Rover’s exceptional 4x4 capabilities.”
The 2013 Range Rover has also been named Luxury Car of the Year by world-famous Top Gear magazine.
