There has been a lot of anticipation surrounding Land Rover’s new manufacturing ventures in China and word has just come down that the first vehicle to be produced in the new Chinese plants will be the Range Rover Evoque.
Word of Land Rover’s intention came from CEO Ralph Speth at a recent press event in London, where he confirmed production of the Evoque because it has the highest demand in China. Additional models like the new Land Rover Discovery line will surely be added in the future, but for the time being the Evoque will be it. “We are starting with one vehicle at first. We have to train our employees and bring them up to speed.”
Land Rover’s new factory– a joint project with Chinese automaker Chery Automobile – is located northeast of Shanghai and is slated to begin producing Land Rover vehicles in October.
