Land Rover has been experimenting with electric engines and hybrid vehicle models for years now, but it seems like the recent (and overwhelming) success of Tesla's electric vehicles has sparked a new sense of urgency for the luxury SUV automakers.
Recent comments from Jaguar Land Rover engineering director Wolfgang Ziebart indicate that JLR sees a viablea market for full electrics, but only at the top scale of its line. This would mean electric or hybrid Range Rover models, like the Range_E which received great fanfare for its ability to deliver remarkable fuel economy and emissions rates without compromising the unrivaled Land Rover Driving Experience. If performance is not hindered (and according to all reports, it isn't) than there should be nothing stopping Land Rover from pushing full steam ahead with electric vehicles.
